Album Premiere//False Puppet

Alternative-rock band, False Puppet, is a trio hailing from the beach town of Santa Barbara, California. The band consists of bassist and backing vocals, Channing Peake, and brothers Tyler Benko, lead vocals and guitar, and Brennan Benko, drums.

Since their formation in 2009 they have released two EPs, “Far Out” and “False Puppet”, and are excited to release their debut album, Gibraltar. Tyler Benko said that Gibraltar represents False Puppets musical evolution and is a work of art that took a great amount of time and creativity to produce.”It synthesizes a wide variety of styles and influences that ultimately leads to a style I might describe as California alt-rock tinged with indie-hard rock influences,” said Benko. “We tried to craft something that a lot of people could vibe with. We're stoked for people to hear the album on tour.”

Gibraltar, which is named after a beautiful lookout point in the mountains of their hometown of Santa Barbara, is a collection of 8 very fun and different sounding songs that are perfect for your summer playlist. However, some of the songs deal with deeper conflicts such as sexual violence, depression, anxiety, heartbreak, self confidence, rejection, and guilt. The second song on the album, Elliot, is one of the more uptempo songs on the album, but is in reference to the University of California, Santa Barbara shooting that happened in May of 2014. “While on the darker side lyrically, the song's alternative/indie rock sound is pretty symbolic of the style of the record as a whole."
