Interview//The Griswolds

Australian four-piece, The Griswolds, released their debut album Be Impressive this past year and are about to embark on tour with Walk The Moon starting tonight in San Diego. Check out our chat with Chris Whitehall below and check tour dates to see if they will be in your city over the next month…

Are you excited for your tour with Walk the Moon? Have you ever played a show with them before?

We’re are raring to go! Been along time coming and we couldn’t be more excited to be honest! We haven’t played with them before but we’ve been hanging out in LA the last couple of days and they are the best dudes, this tour is going to be insane .

Would you say there are many differences from touring in the US vs. touring in Australia and other places?

Yeah Australia is quite different because even though its a similar land mass to the US we only have 6 major cities so when you tour in Australia the tours are quite short. We just finished up a tour back home with the Kooks and it was literally 4 shows and only lasted a week. This Walk the Moon tour is gonna be 46 cities and 2 months of touring.

You are a relatively new band (correct me if I am wrong), how did you guys get together as a band?

Yeah, were not even 3 years old yet. Dan and i started the band together and started writing songs just for fun, didn’t really think we’d start a band. Then we met Lach and Tim just through going to shows in sydney and started up the band not too long after that. Now here we are.

What has been your favorite show to ever play and why?

Firefly Festival in Dover Delaware has been a massive favourite of all of ours so far, it was the best crowd, everyone was singing along and partying with us! it really is a kickass festival.

I’ve heard you guys several times on the radio, have you guys heard yourselves on the radio yet? If yes, how did you feel about this, was it surprising?

We actually haven’t heard it here in the U.S, but we’ve heard it back home a heap of times, its one of those things we’ll never get used to. Would really love to hear it here though, that’d be mega.

What is your favorite food to eat while on tour?

Hate to say it, but junk food is the most common thing we eat unfortunately, only because its the most available and time efficient kinda food to eat. I’d say our favourite food is Mexican though, can’t get enough.

If you could each describe your band in one word, what word would you choose?

Slippery
