Skaters and The Orwells//September 25

Fall break came with some much needed down time and I finally had the chance to edit these pictures and get this post up. So here it goes…

A few weeks ago I had the chance to see Skaters and The Orwells. Skaters is a “plasma punk” band from New York. They have been touring a lot of the summer and have spent a good amount of time in the North West playing shows in Portland with NONONO, The Colourist, Skaters, Wild Cub, & Bear Hands for Pet Aid, Summer Camp Fest in Washington, and another show in Washington with Open Mike Eagle. And there is no questioning that Portland loves them. As their set went on their energy was bouncing off the crowd and everyone was having a great time. After Skaters came The Orwells, an indie rock band out of Chicago. Lead singer Mario Cuomo connected with the crowd through the entire night, even diving into the audience at one point and crowd surfing. At the end of the show, the band left the stage and returned for an encore however Mario never returned to the show and I found him standing next to me at the side stage watching his band joined by literally the entire audience on stage. It was quite an interesting, but fun end to a great concert. Check out pictures from the show below.

Also check out Skaters online zine... some pretty cool stuff on here.
